I love East Griqualand landscapes, even when the land has been ravaged by drought and fire. These shots were taken near our house this morning after a runaway fire four days ago. Notwithstanding the urgent need for rain so our cattle can graze here again, there is a certain beauty in the starkness which I just had to capture.
Before my date with the camera though, we went out for a short post-marathon trot. My gammy hip was mumbling grumpily about lack of rest, mad runners etc, but the rest of my body begged to differ. Hip, you will be ignored. Tomorrow is the start of a new attack on a new marathon – Benoni here we come! You have ten weeks to be ready for us!
