Squares, Towers and Macabre Menageries

8 photos

A quick turn around Trafalgar Square to see Nelson’s Column and the four magnificent lions that guard it before moseying on to the Tower of London. Amazing to see the site of so much macabre history. Next time I will budget for a tour around the actual dungeons and the pits where they kept their menagerie - it is hellishly expensive though for us South Africans.

Camden Town was an awesome place to finish off our visit to London. Vibrant is such an over- used word but the only word I can think of for this amazing conglomeration of markets, restaurants, shops and general quirky stuff.

Looking out from Trafalgar Square - one of my favourite pics
Daffodils at the Tower. Look carefully and see the statues of lions - this is to remind us of the Royal Menagerie that until 1828 was kept in the Tower. Lion bones dating back 600 years have been found on the site.
Steph looks like she is about to yawn and the Old Goat is caught on his phone but what an awesome pic of Michael.
One has to have a pic with Tower Bridge in the background but the light was all wrong. Note to self - visit Tower Bridge in the late afternoon!
A lovely pic of the Herder Of Cats with the Main Cat!
Camden Town. Lols has lost her herd - or is she trying to hurl herself under that car?
Camden Market. South Africans do not part easily with pounds but this is definitely a place to do it!
Camden Lock on Regent Canal, part of London's canal network.
